Hindu Monks, Rishis or Learned people in olden days could do that and it is called one of the Siddhis. Siddhi is a special power gained after long Tapsya or education combined with meditation. One of the leading figure in Hinduism was Shankaracharya who was debating with a learned Brahmin called Mundan Mishra. Shankaracharya won the debate but that Brahmin’s wife challenged him for a debate. Shankaracharya asked her many questions on different subjects and she answered all of them. Then she asked many questions to Shankaracharya and he answered them. Finally she asked him about sex. Since Shankaracharya was Bramhachari (Unmarried person who never touches a woman for the purpose of religion) he had no experience about sex. Therefore he was not able to answer her question. He requested that lady to give him some time to gain sexual experience so that he can answer her question. But being Bramhachari his body would not have sex with any woman. So he left his body and entered in a body of a rich person who had just died. The rich person got up and as usual had sex with his concubine. After gaining enough experience Shankaracharya left that rich man’s body and came back in his own body to answer the question about sex. Now this may sound veered story for Westerners but entering another body which is called “Par Kaya Pravesh” is a well known concept in Hinduism and when necessary it was practised by those who had that Siddhi.
I wonder if Bible has any such story of Par Kaya Pravesh i.e. entering in to another body.
