Open Question: As you grow older do you feel that your time on earth is coming to an end?
I do have that feeling. I am 57 now not in good health either. I practice a form of tibetan buddhist meditation called shenpa daily and i always wish that i will die like Buddha did when he was in a deep meditative state in the forest. He too was ill when he passed away. For many years now i was sad that don’t have a family. My parents passed away and my 2 brothers left sri lanka and went to Canada, but i have lost contact with them.
But i have read a buddhist scripture that says ‘anyone who is kind to you human or animal is your family’
What do you think of those words?

Open Question: Looking for a spiritual centre to study in….?
I was wondering if anyone knew of a place in Canada (I’m willing to travel) that you can live in… I’m hoping to find some kind of buddhist temple…if not something like that where the main focus is meditation. I have suffered from depression for quite a while and im wondering if doing something similar to the eat pray love story would benefit me. (I know she did her spiriutal learning in different places like india) But anyways if anyone knows of any kind of spiritual teachers or learning centres in Canada please let me know. Thanks!

Open Question: How can i block mind readers from reading my thoughts?
These mind readers exits and they are driving me crazy! Where i’m from they are everywhere! Calgary, Canada in which i now call the city of devils. I used to think meeting such people would be cool, but it is not cool at all! and is tormenting! They can read you with such ease, not openingly of cause but i can always tell by their response to my thoughts. I am not deluded! These people exits and are driving me crazy! Something tells me they are not just here in this city but are popping up everywhere in the world. The question here is how can i cover my thought from them? Meditation doesn’t seem to help at all! As a matter of fact i sometimes wonder why these minder readers are not millionaires and are just like everyone else, are they even humans? Once again i am not crazy they are so many of them here in my city! What do i do?

Open Question: top 10 nations thread a perfect example…?
… of religious nuts making up facts? when they’re callled out for being wrong, they declare themselves right and call you a liberal loon? this makes sense?
see, canada is simply not a xian religion. I’m stating a fact. this does not make me liberal.
japanese buddhism is replete with shrines to ancestors. buddhism being the discipline that exists within the real world (exercise, meditation, education, eating, breathing, that sort of stuff), and taoism being the practice that involves the imaginary spiritual crap from whence miracles come. even funnier: religion is listed on your birth certificate in japan but polling suggests 70% of japanese aren’t religious! they keep ancestral shrines out of habit! so no no no to japan being buddhist.
see? I know what I’m talking about. how does that automatically translate into me being wrong based on the fact that I’m right? is that truly how the religious mind works? being right automatically translates into being wrong because xians are so used to being wrong all the time that their default position is to pick the wrong answer and declare it right?

Open Question: Advice to someone who recently began meditation?
I recently began meditation since it has many health and spiritual benefits, and also increases connection to positivity. When it comes to each mantra meditation, for example, the Ganesh Mantra (om gam ganapataye namaha), is it necessary to be performed on a daily basis in order to take effect? I already note a slight improvement with this one but have only performed it for one session.
Also, any additional advice or information from those who practice would be a plus. Be it for this or other recommended mantras as well.
Namaste from Canada

Meditation in the classroom, the new approach to 'emotional learning'
Students in nearly 175 schools in Canada and 75 in the U.S. are being taught 'mindfulness' and other psychological techniques to try to enhance the learning experience. Richard Handler says these tools are just as valid as letting kids be kids.
