Open Question: I only get my period when I’m stressed!!! How can I stop this? (stressing less is not working)?

Sep 26, 2012   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

I have a LOT of anxiety and get stressed out very easily. When I get stressed to a certain point when I hit my limit, I know what happens next and I can feel it coming on. I will start what I call a “stress period” and it can last 2-3 weeks. Then it will eventually stop and then a week or two later when I get stressed again, it starts back up! Towards the end of one or when it just goes on and on and on (like right now), I start to get kind of dizzy and dehydrated and I cant stand up quickly because it feels like I will fall down. Of course I’ve tried to stress less. I’ve been doing meditation and yoga and trying to create peace of mind, and even though I feel a little better emotionally, the period thing still goes on. I don’t even know when my “regular period” is anymore or if i have a normal one. I’ve had a eating disorder for years, so that probably affects it too. Is there anything I can medically do to break the cycle and stop this?????? Are there any health risks involved with what’s going on?? (because one time I mentioned it to a doctor and they said if it gets really really bad I could potentially need IV fluids and a blood transfusion if I lose too much blood). Please help.

Open Question: Can Stress/Anxiety/Depression Cause All Of This?

Sep 14, 2012   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

I have gone through a LOT in my life but i’ll TRY keep it short. I am a 17 year old male. When i was 9, my dad committed suicide. A year later i got in a horrible car accident with my mom. She is still alive. Only about a year ago my separation anxiety for my mom faded away completely. But i am still an anxious guy. For the past year i have been dealing with a Wound on my lower back that has not healed. About a month ago i had a horrible anxiety attack. I had a bowel movement and there was blood in my stool. Ever since then we have been to the ER, 2 doctors, and a Gastroanterologist (don’t know how to spell that hahah) so far, from a X-ray, Ultra Sound, and Breath Test, nothing is wrong with me. But i think about my stomach all the time now and it causes my stomach to feel pain/bloating. The doctor said this is probably just I.B.S. (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). I have lost my appetite, can’t sleep, constipation, and cry for no reason and feel like my life is worthless. I also get nervous about my girlfriend cheating on me (i know she’s not). And i’ve been out of school for a while now so i have a lot of work to make up. I wanted to know, can stress/anxiety/depression, cause all of the symptoms i stated? Yes i have been seeing a therapist and next Friday i am going to someone who teaches meditation. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Open Question: I have an extremely short temper?

Aug 16, 2012   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Well, I have a short temper. I can get really angry quickly. I can’t tolerate things that well :/ . I used stressed balls, but they never work because they always.. break..? I had a squishy and hard stress ball , and I got so angry at my friend that the stress ball broke. I usually rip it up. And the fact that i get mad at a LOT of things I really need to overcome this. P.S , Meditation didn’t work at all

Open Question: Looking for a de-stressing month long retreat.?

Jul 13, 2012   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Something like this or close enough:

Highly guided program having healthy meals (they determine what & how much I eat), gentle exercise, and meditation etc.
Secular, Buddhist, general spirituality, or something else that’s tolerable; no Abrahamic faiths.
Strongly chaste. Preferably all male. (Not a men’s movement group.)
Given a little over 8 hours to prepare for and sleep at end of each day.
In a rural woodsy setting.
Preferably in the contiguous US.
On premises lodging provided by the organization.
Lasting a month’s time. (This one is SO important, but if month longs aren’t avail. for me I guess somewhat shorter will do)
It can’t be a place requiring a LOT of prerequisite training in order to stay there one month. (I realize this would probably rule out an INTENSIVE meditation retreat but that is probably for the best anyway.)

So I guess a meditation retreat but then again maybe a resort etc. with a holistic health program. Some massages would be very beneficial especially foot massage. Some sort of Ayurveda place sounds promising. Or a more European type disciplining spa etc. Or perhaps an adult camp or other set-up for people with Tourette, obsessive compulsive disorder, attention deficit disorder, and or learning disabilities (since I have all that). I realize that depending on the type of destination different things I’ve mentioned are very unlikely to be available, but please don’t bring up places quite lacking in the things mentioned that are fairly common for that type of place. Please address what needs to be addressed in terms of whether or not certain things I’ve mentioned looking for are to be found there or somewhat found there.

My body and mind need some serious relief from the effects of Tourette’s Syndrome, obsession and compulsion, middle age, hard manual labor, and stress in general. They need something healing & grounding. I am willing to save up money and vacation time for this.

I’m completely lost about finding a fitting place so constructive thoughtful help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
