Open Question: Hgh BP at young age. How to alter by food habits and lifestyle?

May 25, 2013   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

I am a 30 year old suffering from High BP from the last year. I am taking Amlong 5mg in the morning and night. My sugar levels are also borderline when I checked recently. I don’t smoke or drink and do exercises mostly. My parents didn’t have these diseases till late 50′s. Why am I affected so young? Please give me a detailed chart as to how breakfast, lunch and dinner should be at what time, how much of water, how much of exercises, whether weight training is good, what kind of yoga and meditation is good, how much of sleep and what kind of lifestyle alterations has to be done?

Open Question: Should I persist with vipassana meditation?

May 25, 2013   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Learnt it last year. Only felt slightly better momentarily during the course but difficult to do it properly due to back aches.

Been doing it an hour or so each day most days. Haven’t noticed any positive improvement in my mental health but love the concept of mindfulness itself.

I’m just not sure if it is worth the effort. eg on the train to work I could be reading the paper or play PS Vitae game instead of meditating.

Open Question: How to cope with living condition.?

May 25, 2013   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Without going into to much detail, I am going through a rough time right now. I have to live in the same house with the man that I love, but continues to carry on with other women. He is bad to me. I do not want to be with him any longer but I do love him. Leaving the situation is not an option, don’t ask. How can I get my head right and let go of this while living here, when I am so angry and hurt. I have tried meditation. I just have to be able to get over this and keep my sanity while still enduring the pain of being in constant contact with him. Please don’t say leave, its not an option. But any advice on how I can cope would be greatly appreciated. I feel so alone and angry every day. and I am falling apart

Open Question: Ideas for Martial Arts/meditation after drug rehabilitaion?

May 25, 2013   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

I’m 27, 5’11, 168lbs and in athletic shape. But I smoke cigarettes, and marijuana, I do not drink alcohol though. I’ve had addiction problems with vicoden, percoct and occasional oxy-contin use..no injecting or snorting just by mouth! And it wasn’t a heavy use I wasn’t homeless but did seek help for this through methadone. I started at 35 ml went to 100 ml and now I’m at 6ml which I think is a HUGE achievement on my part. I did the program properly and didn’t abuse the drug, I will be off of it in less than 2 months and am somewhat nervous about coming off of it. I have a brand new 2013 civic Si, nice firearm collection I like to be active but haven’t Ben lately…I am interested in learning meditation along with martial arts, (not competitive) somewhat inspired by Robert Downey Jr and his recovery from alchole and drugs. Any suggestions on ways I can get my body back to the way it was before I made this rediculous mistake? Maybe a form of Martial Arts, also am kind of self conscious all though I really have no reason to be..never had a problem getting woman or friends just in my head..another problem that runs in my family lol. Like I said am looking for something to strengthen myself all around. And suggestion km open too!!

Open Question: What is Buddhism and Zen Buddhism?

May 25, 2013   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

I’ve been researching a lot lately about different religions, mostly because I want to learn more about how people view things on a spiritual level. I came across Buddhism and Zen Buddhism, it talked about the four noble truths, the five aggregates, the eightfold path, meditation, but it didn’t really explain it. I mean, it did, but for someone with absolutely no background in the history of it, it made absolutely no sense. I was hoping someone could explain all of these things, or at least point me to a book that would give me a better understanding as to what exactly are the practices, the beliefs, the dos and don’ts, the highlighted gurus and so on and so forth. Thank you so much!

Open Question: What would be the most efficient, effective and beneficial to meditate?

May 25, 2013   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

Sometimes I practice by focusing on my breathing. But other times I come up with something and focus on it like, becoming aware of the space feeling around my body or listening to the sounds inside and outside, etc.

What would be a good beneficial meditation or similar like technique?

Open Question: Are all Christians seen as delusionally wrong and crazy?

May 25, 2013   //   by SueBennett   //   Blog  //  No Comments

I can not tolerate crazy fundies like Fred Phelps, Mark Driscoll, Doug Phillips, Pat Robertson etc. Its because of them that I’m everything averted to them; I’m a feminist, environmentalist, gay and animal rights supporter, insist that evolution is a scientific fact and real, and I love education, though I wish it would sound more fun like Bill Nye the Science Guy (Dawkins is brilliant and all but he can bore me a bit).

This may make me sound like an atheist, but (sorry atheists) I happen to be a Christian, and a henotheist, and an eclectic. I know it sounds improbable to believe in a supernatural flying man, but hey, who says I can’t believe in one. But most importantly, I don’t let my beliefs control my rational and critical thinking, I am an introvert and paracosmist (I have a deep imagination and love fantasy and mythology). I don’t take the bible literally, nor do I obsess over it. If there is no God and I’m wrong than at I lived my life and wasted it in darkness and ignorance, sheltered from the real world and in constant prayers or meditation, I would die in peace and satisfied with the life and I had only once.
